How To Use An Iceblade Sharpening Jig To Sharpen The Iceblades

Apr 22, 2025

An ice blade sharpening jig is a precision tool designed to maintain consistent edge angles, ensuring optimal sharpness and longevity for ice blades used in skating or cutting.

The following is an introduction to the usage method:

Setup: Secure the ice blade in the jig's clamp, ensuring it sits flush against the angle guide. Most ice blades require a 40°–45° edge angle-adjust the jig accordingly.

Alignment: Position the sharpening stone or file against the jig's guide rail. The jig's design ensures the tool moves at a fixed angle, eliminating guesswork.

Sharpening: Use light and stable pressure to slide the sharpening tool along the edge of the blade from the heel to the tip. Repeat this action evenly on both sides of the blade to maintain

symmetry. Avoid excessive sharpening to prevent too much material from being removed.

Deburring: After sharpening, remove micro-burrs by gently stroking the edge with a honing stone or leather strop.

Inspection: Test sharpness by gliding the blade across ice or paper. A clean, smooth cut indicates success.

Using a sharpening jig minimizes human error, enhances edge uniformity, and prolongs blade life.
