How To Brake Your Quad Skates

Mar 28, 2024

If you're new to quad skating or just need a quick refresher, one of the most important things to learn is how to brake. There are several ways to brake on quad skates, so let's go through some of the most common methods:

  1. T-Stop: This is probably the easiest and most popular way to brake. With your dominant foot, drag it behind your other foot, forming the shape of a T. The friction created by your wheels and the ground will slow you down.

2. Plow Stop: Similar to skiing, this method involves turning your toes inward and pushing your heels out to the sides. This creates a wedge shape and slows you down.

3. Toe Stop: If your skates have a toe stop, you can use it to brake by tapping it lightly on the ground.

4. Backward Brake: If you're comfortable skating backwards, you can use this method. Start by building up some speed, then turn around and use the T-stop or plow stop.

Remember to always practice your braking in a safe and controlled environment. With practice, you'll be able to stop smoothly and confidently on your quad skates.
