How Do We Produce The CNC Aluminum Skate Frames?

Mar 04, 2025

Creating CNC aluminum skate frames is a complex process that requires precision engineering, access to CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery, and knowledge of materials and skateboard design. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you understand the process:

1. Design the Skate Frame

Use CAD Software to design the skate frames

2. Choose the Aluminum Alloy

Select a high-strength aluminum alloy, such as 6061-T6 or 7075-T6, which are commonly used for CNC machining and offer a good balance of strength, weight, and corrosion resistance.

3. Prepare the CNC Machine

Secure the Material: Clamp the aluminum billet (block) onto the CNC machine bed.

Load the Design: Import the CAD design into the CNC machine's software (CAM software) to generate the toolpaths.

Select Tools: Use appropriate cutting tools, such as end mills and drills, for machining aluminum.

4. Machine the Frame

Rough Cutting: Remove large amounts of material to get the basic shape of the frame.

Precision Machining: Use finer tools to achieve exact dimensions and smooth finishes.

Drill Holes: Create precise holes for mounting trucks and attaching the deck.

Surface Finishing: Use sanding or polishing to smooth out rough edges and surfaces.

5. Post-Processing

Deburring: Remove any sharp edges or burrs left from machining.

Anodizing (Optional): Apply an anodized finish to improve corrosion resistance and add color.

Heat Treatment (Optional): For added strength, heat-treat the aluminum if necessary.

6. Quality Control

Inspect the frame for dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.

Test the frame by mounting it on a skateboard and ensuring it performs well under stress.
